Root Canal Retreatment
Endodontic retreatment is a second chance to save your tooth. During a retreatment procedure, an endodontist opens your tooth and removes the filling materials that were placed inside your tooth during the initial procedure. The endodontist then examines the tooth using a microscope, looking for additional canals or new infection. Next, the root canal system is shaped, cleaned and a new root canal filling is placed. The access is covered with a temporary filling and the patient returns to their dentist for a permanent restoration or crown within 2-3 weeks.
